A selection of the flatting tools used daily in the workshop by our team. Pictures above and below by Tony Johnson, Yorkshire Post.

Flatting tools: These are for pressing the upper and lower lips to a pre-determined proportion. We have a full complement of all mouth widths.

Doming tools:
We use these for the lids on canister tops, the dome ensures that the metal will not vibrate when played.

Hand plane: The base is made from lignum vitae which helps prevent any wear over the years. The angle of the iron blade is very different to a traditional wood plane.
Metal planes: Used for planing the angles on languids and also for straightening the edges on larger pipes.
