Swell open diapason pipes made by Shires for Bedford School Chapel.

We are pleased to have supplied the metal flue and reed pipes for the exciting organ being built by our friends William Drake in the chapel of Bedford School.

Swell open diapason pipes of zinc made by Shires for the new organ in Bedford School Chapel

The new mechanical action instrument of 35 speaking stops will be located on the west gallery of this historic building.

Here's the Swell Open Diapason which was manufactured in our Leeds workshop by Chris Shires.

The first 12 pipes are made from zinc, with metal upper and lower lips of 35 per cent tin. Top end pipes are made from spotted metal.

The team at William Drake is due to complete the instrument in Autumn 2027.
