Putting the buzz back into some damaged Walker reeds

Updated: Feb 21

Buzard Pipe Organ Builders has announced an exciting organ project for St. James Episcopal Cathedral in Chicago.

It will see the monumental 1958 J W Walker & Sons organ of City Temple, Holborn Viaduct, London, restored/rebuilt, reconfigured, and installed there behind the historic 1875 Johnson organ casework.

We were asked by Dave Brown of Buzard to help with a few repairs to some of the reeds. We retained as much of the original metal as possible and replaced with tick side metal as per the original.

Dave sent the pipes to us from London and we made sure we finished them in time to be packed away with the rest of the organ, bound for the USA! More images of this work can be found on our restoration and repairs page.
